Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most sought after entrance examination to pursue post-graduation in engineering disciplines. It is a national level entrance exam to offer admissions into M.Tech./Ph.D. courses in IITs , IISc, IISERs and other reputed institutions.
GATE 2018 will be organized by IIT Guwahati on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The online examination is scheduled to be held on February 03, 04, 10 & 11, 2018 (Saturdays & Sundays).
Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.
Educational Qualifications:
(A) Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Engineering/Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
(B) Bachelor's degree holders of Architecture (Five years course) and those who are in the final year of such programs
(C) Bachelor's degree holders of Four-year program in Science (B.S.) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
(D) Master's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
(E) Holders of Four-year Integrated Master's degree (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology and those in the second or higher year of such programs.
(F) Holders of Five-year Integrated Master's degree or Dual Degree in Engineering / Technology and those in the fourth or higher year of such programs.
(G) Holders of Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.Sc./M.Sc. degree and those in the final year of such programs.
(H) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A of AMIE or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
Age: There is no age limit to apply for GATE 2018.
Application Fee: ₹ 750/- for the SC / ST / PwD category candidates; ₹ 750 for women candidates; ₹ 1500 for all other candidates. The application fee can be paid with net-banking or debit/credit card.
Selection Process: Candidates will be selected based on Online Computer Based Test (CBT).
